Some of my adverts have won awards but I'm not sure that counts. Where are all these voicework competitions with enough awards to go round the whole industry?! Everyone is a coach too!
This isn't a dig, I think it's a sort of arms race. Like Coca-Cola and Pepsi both pouring billions into advertising just to keep parity.
Perhaps we need some kind of award armistice, where we all acknowledge we're fairly decent enough, and use other, more unique-to-us differentiators.
But then, I've got "Neumann U87" in my tagline. Isn't that a sympton of the same thing? We've all got good mics.
Nightmare.
On the subject of coaching, it's nice when I'm looking through peer websites, and find a coaching page which funnels a prospect somewhere else, while acknowledging that just being a voice talent doesn't automatically make us able to teach everything that needs to be taught. I do this (because I'm a great guy), but I found it on Christopher Tester's site too. Very cool.
